Boystown Named World's Best Gay Neighborhood

Chicago may be known as the "Second City" but Boystown is considered the top, at least by Out Traveler. 

The gay travel website has named Boystown the "Incomparable Gay Neighborhood" in their Out Traveler Awards of 2013. The neighborhood run the award for several reasons, including the large Pride celebration, the plethora of things to do and the overall friendliness of the area. 

"Chicago Boystown, centered around Halsted Street, was the nation's first officially-recobnized gay village in the U.S.," Out Traveler writes. "The neighborhood has everything you could want: bars, clubs, restaurants, architecture, walkability, its own El stop and now marriage equality."  

The city beat out The Mission in San Francisco, which was named runner-up.
