Bucktown Community Organization Launches Campaign To Help Local Businesses
"Takeout 25 Bucktown" asks participants to spend $25 a week at a local establishment to help support local restaurants.
Today the Bucktown Community Organization comes to you with a different message than usual. We are presenting a Community Plea and hope you can embrace the spirit of this request and help.
In recent weeks, area community members banded together with an idea to support our local restaurants. In addition to the many unique businesses, organizations, and institutions in our neighborhood, restaurants have been hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to alleviate some of the financial struggles they face going into the holidays and the coming months, our volunteers created a solution to infuse dollars back into these businesses.

It’s called Takeout 25 Bucktown and asks participants to spend $25 a week at a local establishment. If 5,000 residents spend $25 a week for carryout or delivery at an area restaurant, this translates to half a million dollars per month–which could be the difference between economic survival or extinction.
The BCO believe our participation in programs like this help create a more vibrant, thriving neighborhood that offers a wide array of choices for visitors and residents. We depend on these visitors and residents to support the local business community at large. When they visit us, they spill over into the surrounding area for dining and shopping. We become a destination for people and our community is enriched by the wide services offered.
