Caffe Umbria Opens In Logan Square

Coffee lovers have a new cafe to check out in Logan Square.

CHICAGO, IL — Seattle-based Italian coffee roaster Caffè Umbria opened its doors Saturday in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood. Located at 2545 W. Armitage Ave., the new cafe features a roastery and coffee training lab. The chain opened its first Midwest cafe in Chicago’s River North in October 2015.

Customers enter the cafe through the end of a converted shipping container. The cafe serves traditional Italian espresso and coffee drinks, Nitro Cold Brew on tap and sells freshly-roasted bulk beans. An open floor plan and raised seating area overlooks the roastery and training lab.

The cafe is located in the former Armitage Avenue Car Barn, an early 1900s-era warehouse that used to house streetcars. The space has been transformed with the help of design firm Studio Modernista.
