Double Door Building In Wicker Park Sells For $9M
The former music venue has hosted countless famous musicians, including Kanye West, Smashing Pumpkins, Rolling Stones and John Legend.

CHICAGO, IL — The iconic Double Door in Wicker Park has been sold to a Chicago real estate developer for $9.1 million, the investor confirmed. CA Residential, the apartment development and investment arm of CA Ventures, plans to revamp the property at 1572 N. Milwaukee Avenue, the firm said.
The developer said it's looking at turning the first floor into retail space. The floor currently includes 11 apartments, CA Ventures said.
The owners of Double Door were evicted early last year by the building's owners after a disagreement. Ald. Joe Moreno then stepped in and introduced an ordinance to bump the property's zone status from its B3-2 designation to a restricted B1-1 status, a move that the building's owners viewed as a threat to keep Double Door, according to multiple reports.

The building's owners filed two lawsuits against the city and Moreno over the zoning ordinance. That legal battle will continue, according to a report by the Chicago Tribune.
