Hot Yoga Studio Coming to Former Bucktown Jiffy Lube

The transformation from garage to yoga studio is under way, with crews saying it could take them up to four months to get the project done.

A former Jiffy Lube auto shop in Bucktown will soon reopen as a new hot yoga studio, a transformation that won’t come cheap to the developer.

Sitting at 1845 N. Milwaukee Ave., the former oil change shop is undergoing an estimated $200,000 buildout to construct the new yoga studio.

And while a representative with the project did not immediately return Patch’s request for an interview, crews on the scene said it could take them three to four months to turn the space from an unused shop to a chic storefront.

The space was sold for $450,000 in September after nearly 150 days on the market, Coldwell Banker’s listing shows. It was originally listed just four months earlier for $580,000.

A drop in price may be due to some of the remains left after Jiffy Lube closed up shop, including an above ground oil tank. The auto shop was sold “as is,” and the real estate broker estimates it’ll cost approximately $20,000 to remove that piece alone.

With there being no shortage of yoga studios in Bucktown and Wicker Park, competition will also be tough for the new business. Just one block away at 1704 N. Milwaukee Ave., CorePower Yoga also offers hot Bikram classes.

Formerly sitting at 1834 W. North Ave., Om on the Range had to close their yoga studio citing the number of studios as one of the reasons for their departure. Om on the Range is now back to one studio space in North Center.
