Lillie's Q to Reopen in Bucktown in June, Owner Says
The famous barbecue restaurant on North Avenue is coming back, Chef Charlie McKenna said Thursday, just in time for summer.
After a fire that caused “total damage,” Lillie’s Q is reopening its Bucktown location in mid-June, owner and chef Charlie McKenna announced Thursday.
The fire broke out March 14 in the famed barbecue restaurant’s basement, which sits at 1856 W. North Ave. The flames took more than an hour to get under control, and one firefighter suffered from minor injuries.
McKenna says his team is heading to Memphis to compete in the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, and when they return, it’ll be all eyes on Bucktown.

“It's been a long road trying to get Lillie's Q in Bucktown back open, but we're getting close,” McKenna said in a statement. "The outpouring of support from other chefs and restaurant owners, loyal customers, and friends of Lillie's Q has been absolutely incredible.
“We're hoping to put together a really amazing finish at Memphis In May this weekend, and ride that wave right into getting the Bucktown location of Lillie's Q open,” he continued. “We can't wait to open our doors again and feed everyone.”
