Merry Kiss-mas: Lips Lock Under 'Mistletoe Kissing Contraption'

Blake Grigsby steals smooches in the spirit of the season at Christkindlmarket in Chicago.

After snacking on Christmas goodies at Christkindlmarket, visitors to Chicago’s annual Christmas festival stumbled upon lip-smacking goodness of another kind under Blake Grigsby’s “Mistletoe Kissing Contraption.”

The DePaul University cinema student and self-described “lovably dorky dude” strung some mistletoe to PVC pipe propped over his head and wandered the market Monday looking dorky and adorable — and kissable.

“Of course, I didn’t think the thing would work, or that anyone would kiss me,” Grigsby told DNAinfo Chicago. “I never expect anyone to kiss me.”

And yet they did. On the cheeks. And the lips. Over and over again. Young and old, men and women.

“My favorite part is meeting people after the kiss and the conversations we have. Some people have interesting stories, and others take pictures and say the mistletoe reminds them of someone they miss.”

Grigsby, who grew up in Naperville, posted his video to YouTube Wednesday. The serial-affection filmer has made a few other videos you may have seen. In the summer, Grigsby sold hugs for a dollar near Millennium Park (that was his mom’s idea). Last year, his “Kiss Me I’m Desperate” YouTube video was seen 17 million times.
