CHICAGO — A man tried to abduct a 16-year-old girl Tuesday morning in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said in a community alert. The suspect walked up to the girl in the 3900 block of West Grand Avenue at about 8 a.m., and said, "Your mother told me to come and get you," according to police.

The man then grabbed the girl by her backpack, and when the girl pulled away, he then grabbed her with both arms, police said.

A person who was nearby came to help the girl and was able to intervene, police said. The suspect then took off east on Grand Avenue in a black Lexus four door.
