Sam’s Red Hots Closes After 70 Years in Bucktown
The Armitage Avenue walk-up window was a staple in the neighborhood.
CHICAGO, IL - Sam's Red Hots will close soon after what owners and fans believe to have been 70 years in the Bucktown neighborhood.
DNAinfo Chicago reported on the soon-to-be shuttered business at 2345 W. Armitage Ave.
Sam’s only offered a walk-up window, which became a community staple through the decades.

The stand is believed to have opened during the 1940s. Dr. Leslie Kaplan bought it from original owner Sam Gills in 1971. It has been in the hands of Kaplan’s family ever since.
