Silver Room Hosting Wicker Park Block Party, Revealing Mural Saturday

Calling itself “Chicago’s best homegrown block party,” the 11th annual Silver Room Sound System Block Party is back with more than 50 musical performances.

The event, which draws about 5,000 people, is slated for Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. at the corner of Milwaukee and Evergreen avenues. This year’s theme is “Look Up,” referring to staying positive.

Hosted by the Silver Room’s owner Eric Williams, the event is meant to be different from the slew of other street festivals in Chicago. Rather than an alcohol-fueled party, the block party is meant to represent Wicker Park as a community.

And a big part of Wicker Park is art. That’s why, every year, a big part of the event is the live art and mural painting. Each year the wall nearest the corner of Milwaukee and Evergreen is repainted with a new installation.

In addition to art, a fashion show will also take place. And, not forgetting music, there are three stages and more than 50 musical acts pinned for the block party. The performers are:
