Speakeasy Lounge ‘Door No. 3’ Opening in Double Door’s Basement

The owners of a Wicker Park staple say its going back to its roots.

The popular Wicker Park music venue Double Door is going back to its roots—way back— and opening a Prohibition-era speakeasy in its basement.

That’s according to Time Out Chicago’s blogger Kevin Aeh who spoke with Double Door’s co-owner Sean Mulroney. He says during Prohibition the building was actually home to a furniture store in the front and a speakeasy in the back. That’s including a potential brothel upstairs, but that’s beside the point.

Mulroney says in three weeks Door No. 3 will open with a secret enrance under the “L” tracks near Damen Avenue, Aeh writes. Now the music venue that’s hosted artists like the Rolling Stones can also host locals in a new lounge.
