Spring Cleaning: Wicker Park Shred and Recycling Event Saturday

Residents can drop off materials for shredding and electronic recyclables at the Ashland Avenue Jewel parking lot.

Destroy old love letters and recycle the electronic ones at a free paper shredding and electronics recycling event in Wicker Park.

Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., residents can drop off paper and computers at the Ashland Avenue Jewel and Kmart parking lot. 

Chicago-based Secure Eco Shred will be on hand to destroy anything from financial records to old bills. A three-box limit is enforced with $5 for any additional box.

For the electronic love letters, PC Rebuilders and Recyclers will take unwanted computer equipment. Experts will clear hard drives and refurbish the machines for schools and nonprofits. Computers, laptops, monitors, printers, computer cables, mice, keyboards, fax machines, TVs, VCRs, DVD and MP3 players, video game consoles, cell phones and video equipment are all accepted. 

The event is sponsored by the Wicker Park Bucktown SSA #33 and chamber of commerce.
