'Suspicious Object' On Tracks Suspends CTA Blue Line Service

UPDATED: Service resumed after about 2 hours Monday when the object on the tracks at Logan Square station was found not to be a threat.

CHICAGO, IL — A suspicious object thrown on the tracks Monday at a Logan Square station stopped service on the CTA's Blue Line for about two hours, according to the rail service. Chicago police investigated the incident and determined the object was an anti-theft device, similar to the kind used by retailers, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Although Blue Line service resumed, CTA said travelers should still expect some "residual delays."

"Though trains are operating normally and making all stops, in both directions, across entire line, please allow extra travel time as we work to get train spacing and wait times fully back to normal," the rail service said in an online post.
