Whitney Young High School On Soft Lockdown After Threats
A second threat has been found inside a high school on Chicago's Near West Side.

CHICAGO — Whitney Young High School was on soft lockdown Wednesday after a second threat was found written on one of the school's bathroom walls. Ununiformed police officers have been patrolling the school and police cars were seen outside.
Last Friday, a threat was carved into one of the school's bathroom walls, which read, "You will all pay 12/5." Then on Tuesday morning, a similar threat was also found inside a bathroom.
Under the soft lockdown, once a student entered the building, they weren’t able to leave until the end of the day.

"Many students are having severe anxiety over these issues that we have had to confront over the past two days," the school's principal, Joyce Kenner, said in an open letter to parents. "Also, some students have been joking about the incidents and posting some disturbing comments and pictures. We ask for your support in speaking with your children about the serious nature of these situations."
Kenner said "heightened security protocol" will be continued at the school over the next few days.
