Wicker Park Bucktown SSA Agrees to Pay $20K For Safety Program
Budget amendment has received support from one of three aldermen who need to approve it.

CHICAGO, IL - The Commission of Wicker Park Bucktown Special Service Area #33 has amended its 2017 budget to include $20,000 dedicated to a public safety program and have won approval from one of three city aldermen who need to OK the measure.
Alderman Scott Waguespack (32nd) has already voiced support for the amendment, which came on the heels of a Brian Hopkins (2nd) request for the SSA to include $100,000 for security. Hopkins and 1st Ward Ald. Joe Moreno must both sign off on the budget change in order for it to be brought to the full City Council.
A spokesperson for the SSA noted that Hopkins' $100,000 request came after the SSA prepared a full budget for 2017. The $20,000 was approved during a special meeting called last week.
