Wicker Park's Blue Line Lounge Closed For Remodeling

The restaurant and lounge will be closed until Oct.13

CHICAGO, IL — The Blue Line Lounge & Grill, which sits right next to the CTA Blue Line Damen "L" stop, has closed for remodeling. A sign on the window of the venue says it will be closed until Oct. 13. It also says "It's about time."

The restaurant and lounge is known for hosting a variety of seasonal parties, serving unique cocktails, and offering board games (Jenga included). How the venue will change remains unknown—the owners didn't respond to calls or emails about the remodeling.

According to some Blue Line Lounge reviews on Yelp, the restaurant could use some reupholstering. One reviewer called the venue's couch "filthy" and said it was "deteriorating", and another said the seats were "coming apart." For the most part, however, reviewers liked the Blue Line's retro vibe, music, drinks, service, and of course, its location.

"My wife and I have been coming here for almost a decade. They never let us down," wrote one Yelp reviewer.

"This has been my ole reliable in Wicker for the 5 years I have been in the area," wrote another.

The Blue Line Lounge opened 16 years ago. The venue used to be the home of the Busy Bee, a well-known Polish diner that closed after several decades.
