Wicker Park's Trench Restaurant Closed
The restaurant formerly known as Trencherman closed eight months after its remake.

CHICAGO, IL — Trench has officially closed its doors. Located on West North Avenue near the Damen and Milwaukee intersection, the restaurant first opened as Trenchermen in 2012. The venue closed over the weekend, eight months after remaking itself with a new menu and decor.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Trench owners said it couldn't get off the ground in the Wicker Park neighborhood. The restaurant was owned by Heisler Hospitality, headed by co-owners Matt Eisler and Kevin Heisner.
Eisler explained that all Trench's employees will be offered work in new jobs in the company's other restaurants. (For more local news, subscribe to free email news alerts and a daily newsletter for your hometown Patch.)

Trench closed after Sunday brunch service. According to Eater Chicago, the restaurant brought on Michelin-starred chef Jared Wentworth in early 2017, and revamped the menu, including the drink list. Changes also included a new DJ booth, with a new neon sign outside and window art. Heisler Hospitality said the changes aimed to create a better flow between the bar and the seating area.
Heisler Hospitality has also worked on restaurants such as The Revel Room, Lone Wolf, Sportsman's Club, and Bar DeVille.
