Woman Charged With Attempted Murder Of Chicago Police Officer
Police said the woman shot the officer in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

CHICAGO — A woman has been charged with attempted murder of a Chicago police officer after a shooting in Humboldt Park Saturday. The woman was denied bail Sunday.
Emily Petronella, 19, was at her home in the 2700 block of West Potomac at about 7 p.m., when officers arrived at the back door to execute a narcotics and illegal weapons warrant, police said.
Petronella fired a gun through the door, police said, hitting the officer in the shoulder.

The officer was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
During their search of the home, officers found a "large amount" of pot, a semi-automatic pistol and "large bundles" of money, according to the Chicago Police Department.

In a tweet, CPD spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said the officer sustained a serious injury to his shoulder, but is expected to recover.
Petronella was known to police, and was the subject of the search warrant, Guglielmi said.
Petronella was charged with felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault of a peace officer with a weapon, armed violence, aggravated discharge of a firearm and delivery of over 5,000 grams of cannabis, according to police.
Petronella is scheduled to appear back in court Monday.
