$16M Reconstuction Of Buffalo Grove Road Continues
The two-year project covers Buffalo Grove Road, from Deerfield Parkway to IL Route 22.
BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A $16 million widening of Buffalo Grove Road project continues with crew installing storm sewers this week, according to the Lake County Division of Transportation. Crews have also begun paving temporary pavement in the medians. The reconstruction project, which is expected to be completed in 2021, covers Buffalo Grove Road, from Deerfield Parkway to IL Route 22.
The contractor plans to execute the stage 1 traffic pattern toward the end of this week, weather permitting. This new traffic pattern will shift north bound traffic onto the west side of Buffalo Grove Road, so the east half of the new pavement can be constructed.
The project, part of the state's commitment to invest $540 million to improve roads, repair bridges and ease traffic congestion in Lake County, will include a center median and turn lanes at all major intersections. A new traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Thompson Boulevard. Crosswalks at each street crossing will be improved and upgraded to ADA standards, according to the DOT.

No road closures are expected. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction. Temporary lane closures may occur a few hours per day to complete major work.

- Focused construction on Buffalo Grove Road from IL 22 to Aptakisic Road, with minor impacts south of Aptakisic.
2021 — South section

The DOT is asking drivers to watch for workers and flaggers working in the median, and for trucks coming in and out of the job site. The DOT is also asking drivers to be cautious of new traffic pattern to be in place late next week, weather permitting.
