77 New Weekly Coronavirus Cases Reported In Buffalo Grove

There have been 3,387 coronavirus cases in Buffalo Grove since the pandemic began, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Health officials in Illinois are continuing to see an uptick in coronavirus cases across the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Friday 3,866 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 21 additional deaths.

In Buffalo Grove, cases have been rising for the last month after a drastic drop in cases to start 2021. As of Friday, there have been 3,387 3,310 confirmed coronavirus-related cases in Buffalo Grove since the start of the pandemic, according to the IDPH. That marks 77 cases since our last report on April 8. The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 58,363 confirmed cases and 960 deaths in Lake County. That marks in an increase of 857 cases and seven deaths since April 8.

The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.3 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,296,381 cases, including 21,630 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 93,602 specimens for a total of 21,571,023. As of Thursday night, 2,058 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 468 patients were in the ICU and 205 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 9,777,825. A total of 7,779,290 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 129,664 doses. On Thursday, 166,885 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 36 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove since April 6. The latest two deaths came on April 14 and April 16, the first deaths since Feb. 15.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 36 deaths are: 80+ (20), 70-79 (9),60-69 (6) and 50-59 (1).

As of Friday, there have been 1,122 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 62 cases since April 8.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,122 confirmed coronavirus cases and 551 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

  • Belmont Village of Buffalo Grove — 5 cases, 2 deaths (open)/66 cases, 19 deaths (closed)
  • Sunrise of Buffalo Grove — 8 cases, 0 deaths (open)/3 cases, 0 deaths (closed)
  • Symphony Buffalo Grove — 99 cases, 10 deaths (open)/34 cases, 5 deaths (open)

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
