BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

DRIVING WITH A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

  • Amanda Schmidt, 37 of Oak Creed Drive, is accused of aggravated DUI (during a period when driving privileges were revoked of suspended as a result of a DUI), aggravated DUI (violation of third or subsequent time), DUI, driving on a revoked license, speeding 21-25 miles per hour over the speed limit and improper traffic lane usage. Her court date was set for June 15 at 1:30 p.m.
  • Sofiya Shyriy, 28 of Astor Lane, is accused of DUI, illegal lane usage and illegal possession/transfer of liquor. She was arrested on May 22 at 11:35 p.m. A court date has been set for June 7 at 9 a.m.

  • A person reported to police a man was punched in the face by an unknown person at the Woodman's Gas Station on E. Deerfield Parkway on May 17 at 11:23 a.m. Officers contacted the victim, who told them that the person was upset with the way he had parked his trailer and punched him in the cheek. Police were unable to locate the offender.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • An employee at Woodman's on E. Deerfield Parkway reporter his bicycle was stolen from the bike rack while he was working. Police responded on May 14 at 8:15 p.m.
  • A person reported on May 18 at 7:15 p.m. to police that an unknown person had removed his catalytic converter from two of his vehicles parked overnight in the parking lot in the 800 block of Trace Drive.
  • While responding to the previous report of theft, the officer observed another vehicle missing its catalytic converter in the 800 block of Trace Drive. Police contacted the vehicle's owner.

MANAGEMENT DISPUTE

  • A customer at Rainbow Cleaners on W. Half Day Road said she felt she was charged too much for the alterations, so the employee reduced the cost. After processing the charge, the customer took all copies of the credit card receipts and left the store. Police responded on May 14 at 5:45 p.m.
  • A person reported to police that a drive-thru patron at the Taco Bell on W. Dundee Road was verbally rude and abusive and yelled at other customers in the drive-thru lane on May 18 at 11:25 a.m. The reporting person said that due to her behavior he refunded her money and refused her order. The officer contacted the registered owner of the vehicle.
  • A person reported to police that a customer at FedEx on W. Dundee Road refused to wear a mask inside the store. The customer exited the store and the responding officer completed the transaction for him.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

  • A person reported to police he believed people were riding in the back of a moving truck on N. Arlington Heights Road on May 16 at 2:50 p.m. The officer located the truck and the driver confirmed two people were riding on a couch in thee back of the truck. The officer told the people they would need to find another means of transportation.
  • A person reported to police on May 20 at 12:07 p.m. that a person came into the Potbelly Sandwich Shop on N. Milwaukee Ave. asking to exchange a $100 bill for smaller bills. The person informed police that the bill had the wrong face and was a different color than it should be, so she refused. The subject had left the store before police arrived.
  • A person reported to police that he saw four men near his parked vehicle and one of them grabbed his driver's door handle on May 22 at 1 a.m. at the Des Plaines Valley Animal Hospital.

POSSESSION OF CANNABIS

  • Officers conducted a traffic stop on W. Dundee Road and Arlington Heights Road on May 15 at 12:24 a.m. The driver was issued an adjudication citation for possession of cannabis under age 21.
  • Officers who were inspecting a parked vehicle with people inside on W. Lake Cook Road issued a citation for possession of cannabis to the driver of one of the vehicles.

INFORMATION FOR POLICE

  • A person reported to police on May 17 at 3:09 p.m. that a resident had relocated a recently planted village parkway tree to a different location on the property. Police met with the resident and advised him to contact the village with any future parkway tree or property issues.

UNWANTED SUBJECTS

  • A person alerted police of an ongoing problem with kids fishing in a private pond in the 200 block of Fox Hill Drive on May 17 at 5:30 p.m. Officers contacted the kids and they left the area.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A person reported on May 17 to police his vehicle's driver door window had been shattered while it was parked overnight in the 300 block of Raupp Blvd.
  • A person reported to police damage to the top portion of a large park district sign located near the classroom building at Mike Rylko Park on N. Buffalo Grove Road.

THREAT

  • A person reported to police on May 20 at 1:05 a.m. that a customer at the Shell Gas Station on N. Milwaukee Ave had become belligerent and made a verbal threat towards him after he asked her to pull her pants up. The customer had left before police arrived.
  • A person reported to police that he motorcycle had been stolen on May 22 at 8 p.m. on Villa Verde Drive.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A person reported to police on May 21 at 12 a.m. that she had provided personal information to a phishing email.

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

  • A person reported she had been bit when trying to separate two dogs who were playing aggressively on May 24 at 9 a.m. in the area of 0-100 Poplar Court.
