The Buffalo Grove Rotary Club is providing the opportunity for local residents to apply for vocational scholarships to assist with tuition costs. The education required for the vocation should be less than a four-year (baccalaureate) degree.

Each one-year scholarship is $1,500, and funds are limited to programs that prepare individuals for immediate entry into a career field (e.g. Associate of Applied Science Degree, trade school diploma, certificate or license). Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students in a vocational degree or certificate program at an accredited school.

Required materials and the application (downloadable or fillable) form can be found at bgrotary.org/v-scholarship. Those interested in applying should email the completed application, two letters of reference and high school or community college transcripts to: Buffalo Grove Rotary Club Scholarship Chair Martha Weiss at weiss.martha@gmail.com.

“Rotary recognizes the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignity of every occupation as an opportunity to serve society,” Weiss said. “We are grateful to be able to help individuals who are seeking to grow their professional skills through a variety of vocations.”

The program requires scholarship recipients claim funds for the fall, spring or summer semesters in 2021. Immediately after school registration (or if already registered), applicants must submit enrollment notification and a tuition bill in order to receive the assistance. All scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution the student will be attending.
