Buffalo Grove Seeks Input On Prairie View Metra Station

BUFFALO GROVE, IL - From the Village of Buffalo Grove: The Village of Buffalo Grove will host a second public open house on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 to reveal and gather feedback on the draft vision for the future Prairie View Metra Station Area. The consultant team, lead by planning and design firm, Ratio, has worked closely with the project’s steering committee to develop a draft vision shaped by community input, and grounded by market, development, and infrastructure conditions.

The public is encouraged to drop by the Public Open House anytime between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to view the presented draft vision, and to provide comments and feedback.

Previous public outreach activities have included public meetings, online surveys, and key
stakeholder interviews. A public meeting was held in May of 2018, where the project was introduced to the public, and ideas and thoughts on the future of the area were collected.

Village President Beverly Sussman is encouraging the public to participate in the open house, stating, “We had a great turnout at the first meeting. I encourage all residents and stakeholders to continue to participate in this collaborative process to create a long-term vision for the Prairie View area. Citizen engagement is a very important part of this process.”

The Prairie View Metra Station Area has become a distinct neighborhood in northern Buffalo Grove. It encompasses incorporated and unincorporated properties that include residential, commercial, and open space uses within the general vicinity of the Prairie Grove Metra Station. The area has experienced growth in recent years, including residential developments such as Easton Station Townhomes and Prairie Landing Townhomes. The Village’s goal is to generate a community-driven vision and plan that will guide the future of the area. The Plan will take into consideration both the opportunities and challenges of the area, as well as Metra’s North Central Service, which provides train service to the Prairie Grove Metra Station.

The Prairie View Metra Station Area Plan is expected to be complete by spring/summer 2019 and is a key recommendation from Buffalo Grove’s 2016 Economic Development Strategic Plan.
