Buffalo Grove Woman Shot In Chicago Expressway Shooting

Reports indicate the shots were fired from an unknown vehicle traveling on Interstate 94 (Dan Ryan Expressway) north of 47th Street.

CHICAGO — A Buffalo Grove woman remains hospitalized following an expressway shooting last week on the Dan Ryan Expressway (Interstate 94), southbound express lanes at 47th Street. The 51-year-old was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of gunfire following the July 2 incident.

Illinois State Police arrived at the incident scene at around 7:09 p.m. The injured woman was in the front passenger seat when she was shot in a car driven by a 26-year-old female. The driver, along with two rear passengers — a 55-year-old male and a 14-year-old juvenile male — were not struck by gunfire and did not have any injuries, according to police. All are from Buffalo Grove.

A second vehicle, driven by a 28-year-old Chicago male, was also struck by gunfire, but the driver did not sustain any injuries.

Preliminary reports indicate the shots were fired from an unknown vehicle traveling on Interstate 94 southbound just north of 47th Street.

At around 7:26 p.m., all lanes on Interstate 94 southbound were closed at 26th Street for the investigation; with traffic diverted into the express lanes. All lanes were reopened at approximately 10:15 p.m. The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
