Chicago Announces Schedule For Spring Boat Run Season
The Chicago Dept. of Transportation announced the spring bridge-lifting schedule in anticipation of the city's boating season.

CHICAGO - In another sign that summer days are inching closer, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) today announced the schedule for their spring boat run, where bridges across the city will be lifted to allow boats to pass through.
The first of these bridge lifts will occur tomorrow, Saturday, April 17, with the last one taking place on Wednesday, June 30. In total, 27 bridges across the Chicago River will be raised, starting at S. Ashland Ave. and ending at Lake Shore Drive, where boats can pass through the Chicago Harbor Lock into Lake Michigan. The statement from CDOT noted that testing for all of the bridges has already been completed, safely allowing boats to traverse.
CDOT confirmed that the bridges will be raised in a sequential order, and that each lift can take anywhere from eight to 12 minutes. However, due to construction at Lake Shore Drive, the lift could take up to 45 minutes, and the Chicago Tribune reported that the bridge was closed last night to do some final maintenance work. The lifts will occur bi-weekly every Saturday and Wednesday. CDOT will begin lifting bridges at approximately 8 a.m. on Saturdays and 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays.

On Thursday, CBS reported that multiple tweets had been posted stating that bridges throughout the downtown area had already been raised in anticipation of possible riots stemming from the release of the Adam Toledo shooting video. However, CBS was quick to note that these tweets were false, and that no bridges had been lifted yet.
The full schedule of the bridge lifts, per CDOT, is as follows:
