Area students from Buffalo Grove are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Anil Kumar Pillala Graduates From University Of The Cumberlands

University of the Cumberlands wishes to congratulate Anil Kumar Pillala, of Buffalo Grove, on completing their Master of Science in Information Systems Security this spring. Cumberlands held commencement ceremonies this spring to celebrate its newest graduates. Students in the Class of 2021 hailed from 40 states and territories as well as multiple countries, including Canada, Gambia, India, Jamaica, Madagascar, Serbia, Spain, Taiwan, and Ukraine, among others. Graduates from the Class of 2020 were also able to participate in this year's ceremonies.

Howard Part of National Third-Place Finish for UW-Whitewater Bowling

Rebecca Howard, a native of Buffalo Grove, and graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, is a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team, which wrapped up its first appearance in the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships since 2017 Friday in the semifinals, placing third at the national tournament in Wyoming, Mich. Howard, a freshman at UW-Whitewater, is majoring in human performance.

Tamras competes in UW-Whitewater Warhawk Business Plan Competition

Jason Tamras, from Buffalo Grove, who is majoring in marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, competed in the annual Warhawk Business Plan Competition held virtually on May 5. Tamras and his partner were event finalists with their idea for PortaPlug, a portable smartphone charger.

Martin Earns Master's Degree From Chadron State College

Chadron State College will return to in-person commencement exercises Saturday after hosting virtual events due to COVID-19 the past two semesters. Graduate commencement will start at 9 a.m. with speaker Dr. Rick Koza, a CSC Business Professor who is retiring this year. Eighty-one May 2021 graduates and 14 graduates from 2020 will be participating. Spencer Martin, of Buffalo Grove, was among the graduates.
