The resident answered the latest call and heard a recorded message stating his social security number was compromised and he is in danger. The resident called the number back and provided the person that answered with his personal information, including social security number, date of birth, address and more. The person answering the call hung up on him. The resident was advised to call the Social Security Administration and file a fraud report, as well as his banking institutions.

A Hidden Lake Drive resident called police at 4:28 p.m. Feb. 24 to report that they had received a phone call from a number displayed as Amazon, with whom they do business with. The person that called said there was a charge of $350 on her account, which the resident had not made. The caller told the resident to sign in to her Amazon account on her computer to clear up the misunderstanding. Upon logging in, the resident said their mouse pointer began moving on its own and another person began logging into her banking information. The person then said they had control of all of her accounts and they would delete all her money if she did not go to Target and buy five $100 gift cards and provide them access to the money. The resident refused and hung up. She began receiving phone calls demanding the money all day. She contacted all of her banks and it appears no money had been lost at the time of the report.
