Discussion to Address Children's Grief

Mark your calendar for this free program in Buffalo Grove.

Parents are invited to a free panel discussion this month on issues related to children who have lost a parent.

“Advocating for Your Grieving Child in the School Setting” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Twin Groves Middle School by the Chicagoland Young Widowed Connection, Lauri S. Bauer Foundation and Willow House.

Attendees will:

  • Learn how child development impacts grieving
  • Discover which school programs have helped children dealing with these issues
  • Hear from parents about the challenges they have dealt with and their successes as advocates
  • Hear a student’s perspective on dealing with a parental death and the impact on their school experience

Speakers will include Stefanie Norris, founder and executive director of Willow House; Nadine DiMare, social worker at Twin Groves Middle School; Scott Bauer, parent; and Genevieve Liu, high school student.
