Elmhurst University Given All-Clear After Person With Gun Spotted
Elmhurst University has lifted the lockdown and given the all-clear signal after a man with a gun was reportedly spotted on the campus.

ELMHURST, Ill. - As of 6 p.m. CST, the lockdown at the Elmhurst University campus has been lifted after a man with a gun was reported to be on the school grounds. The surrounding area has also been given the all-clear by the Elmhurst Police Department. Law enforcement was unable to locate a suspect, and officials said that the incident remains under investigation.
The news originally broke just after 4 p.m. CST, when the City of Elmhurst tweeted a report of police activity on the university campus and urged all residents to avoid the area. An additional update from the Elmhurst University website came at approximately 5:15 p.m. CST, stating that "police continue to check all buildings on campus. Remain in lockdown until ALL CLEAR announcement given."
Elmhurst police officers at the scene said that "a 'person with a gun' was reported near the Neibuhr Hall residence on Wednesday," according to a report from NBC 5 Chicago.

The Chicago Tribune reported that multiple other locations near the university campus had also been placed under a lockdown as a precaution, including the local YMCA chapter and York High School. These lockdowns have also been lifted.
