BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

COMPLAINTS

HOME BURGLARY

Officers arrived at the 300 block of Mohawk Court on March 27 for a report of a residential burglary with forcible entry. The complainant told police he was on a bike ride and returned home to find that his property had been broken into.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Officers arrived at Twelve Chairs restaurant in the 1200 block of Dundee Road on March 27 where the complainant told police that they were inside the restaurant for 30 minutes and had left his car unattended. When he returned to his car, he found that scratches on the hood of his car resembling a male appendage. The complainant told police that he did not have any past issues with anyone and did not have an argument with anyone after arriving at the restaurant. There were no security cameras at the strip mall and so no footage was able to be reviewed.

FRAUD

Officers arrived at the 700 block of Horatio Boulevard on March 29 and were told by the complainant that someone had attempted to pass a fraudulent check using his bank information. The complainant was told by his bank that the attempt had taken place and was told to contact the police.

DECEPTION/FRAUD
Officers arrived at the 1400 block of Chase Court on March 29 and received a call from a complainant who is a driver for Uber. The person received a phone call from an Uber support line and was told that there was a complaint received and that he needed access to his account. He said that he had just finished a pick-up of a subject who was a no-show and that the person he had spoken with threatened to lock him out of his account if he did not provide the necessary information. The complainant provided the person with personal information, including two credit cards and his bank account and that shortly after he noticed charges on his Uber account for charges of $956, $90 and an attempt of $456 from his bank account. He contacted Uber and was told that the charges would be reversed and that the entire situation had been a scam.

DECEPTION/FRAUD

Officers arrived in the 1300 block of Bristol Lane on March 29 and spoke with a person in regard to a check he had received from a client for work performed. The check was from a bank account that had been closed, which led to a lengthy dispute with the person who had issued the check.
