Kildeer CSD #96 schools 'Stuff the Squads' with food

Students and staff contribute close to 1,000 pounds of food, other items

BUFFALO GROVE, IL ~ Students and staff from Kildeer Countryside School District #96 contributed close to 1,000 pounds of food and other items to Buffalo Police Department's "Stuff the Squad" food drive in early May.

On Thursday, May 6, officers with the Buffalo Police Department visited the district's seven schools, collecting enough food to fill four squad vehicles, according to Buffalo Grove Police Community Officer for Research and Engagement Matthew Mills. The collected items will be donated to four area food pantries, Officer Mills said.

One of their last pickups of the day came from the first- to fifth-grade Ivy Hall Elementary School, where staff contributed to the food drive. School staff used about $150 from their Tuesday Blue Jeans fund ~ funds voluntarily collected when staff wear blue jeans on Tuesdays ~ to buy items, the school’s Assistant Principal Kimberly Mollerdino said. The staff's donations typically fund various charities, and this year staff supported the "Stuff the Squad" initiative, Mollerdino said.
