Stephen Lee Barichello of Joliet passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home surrounded by his wife and three daughters.

Stephen was born on January 7, 1956 to the late Leroy and Irene (Brown) Barichello in Streator, IL where he grew up. He married Monica Turk on November 3, 1979 at St. Joseph's Church in Joliet.

He is survived by his wife, Monica Barichello, of Joliet; daughters, Anna (Shane Dobson) Barichello of Joliet, Ashley Barichello of Joliet, Stephanie (Justin) Thompson-Gee of Glendale, WI; grandchildren, Leah Thompson-Gee, Harper Dobson; siblings, Michael (Julie) Barichello of Streator, Lea (Chuck) Pinshower of Buffalo Grove, Paul Barichello of Streator, Joseph (Cari) Barichello of Streator and James Barichello of Bloomington; his mother in law, Abby Turk of Joliet; sisters in law, brothers in law and many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father in law Rudolph E. Turk, and his younger brother John Barichello.

Stephen attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1974. After high school he went to school at Illinois Valley Community College. For the last 19 years he worked at Johns Manville in Rockdale as the Shipping Supervisor.

Stephen was also a member of the Scott Muhich Knights of Columbus Council #7801. He enjoyed golfing with friends and family and was a long time golfer in the Thirsty Night Golf League at Woodruff Golf Course. He was also an avid bowler. He loved sports, especially Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks. Stephen was very involved with school athletics and activities and loved coaching his three daughters in sports including basketball and softball.

Stephen was a deep rooted family man surrounded by his girls: wife, three daughters and two granddaughters. Family was very important to him and he often hosted large family gatherings for holidays and was very close with his siblings. He was known in his family for being goofy and always had a quirky one liner. He was also kind, loving and thoughtful and would often write short love notes to Monica and had a dollar bill waiting for her Diet Cokes. Stephen was generous in supporting any charity that called and was ready to help any friend in need. He loved taking family vacations to Myrtle Beach and weekends out at the South Wilmington Sportsmen’s Club.

Visitation for Stephen Barichello will be held Thursday, February 25, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet, IL 60431. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet, IL. All family and friends are welcome.
