Stevenson, Buffalo Grove High Cheer Teams Fare Well At State
The Illinois High School Association cheerleading state competition was held this past weekend in Bloomington.

The results are in from this year's Illinois High School Association cheerleading competition with Lincoln-Way East, Belvidere North High School, Grayslake Central and Wilmington high schools all earning state titles in their respective divisions. Locally, Stevenson High School placed third in the Large Division and Buffalo Grove High School placed fifth in the Medium Division. Here is a look at both teams' performances during the second day of competition in Bloomington.
The Grayslake Central cheerleading squad's state title Saturday was their first-ever. Their coach, Kelsey Pierotti, has been overseeing the team for the past seven years and said she had a good feeling early on about this year's team.

"I just could tell for months now that this was a really special team," she told the Daily Herald. "We really focused on one competition at a time, one week at a time, just to get ourselves to the state tournament."

Grayslake North's team also made it to the finals of the cheerleading competition and ended up in tenth place at state.
