Champaign Police Investigating Attempted Bank Robbery
The Champaign Police Department Crime Scene Unit is currently processing the scene.

Today, at approximately 11:14 a.m., Champaign Police Officers responded to the First Midwest Bank located at 812 W. Springfield Avenue for a reported bank robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect entered the bank, passed a note to an employee demanding money and implied possession of a weapon. No injuries have been reported and no currency is believed to have been taken. The suspect was last seen fleeing the bank.

Officers and Detectives from the Champaign Police Department are currently interviewing witnesses from the bank and immediate area. The Champaign Police Department Crime Scene Unit is currently processing the scene.

The suspect is described as a black female, or potentially a male disguised as a female. The suspect is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with long hair (potentially a wig) and was seen wearing a long sleeve grey shirt and blue jeans.
