The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a home at 326 N Fair St., Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 2:06 a.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire in the single-family residence.

Firefighters responded to a report from an occupant of a fire in the basement of the single-story home. Once on the scene, firefighters entered the structure with a single hose line and quickly extinguished the small fire found in the basement.
The cause of this fire is undetermined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported. Two people were home at the time of the fire. The occupants will be displaced as a result of the damage.

The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
