Cheese Dip From Champaign Kraft Plant Recalled

CHAMPAIGN, IL — As a precaution, Kraft Heinz is recalling a cheese dip made at its Champaign plant due to the risk of botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning. The company is recalling about 7,000 cases of Taco Bell Salsa Con Queso Mild Cheese Dip made at its Pittsburgh and Champaign plants due to the dip showing signs of product separation that could lead to botulism, which can trigger weakness, dizziness, double vision, and trouble with speaking or swallowing, Kraft Heinz said in a release.
There have been no consumer complaints or reported illnesses, Kraft Heinz said in a release.
Patch reported the 15-ounce jars have best-used dates ranging from October 2018 to January 2019.

Consumers who purchased this product should not eat it and return it to the store where purchased for an exchange or full refund.
The company said consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-310-3704 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. eastern time, for a full refund.

News-Gazette reported Kraft Heinz is the fourth largest employer in Champaign County, according to the Champaign County Economic Development Corp., with 925 employees at its West Bradley Avenue plant.
