Helping Others Leads Woman to Open Champaign Nothing Bundt Cakes

Coinciding with Black Business Month, woman celebrates community while checking off another item on her "bucket list"

After years of working through her “Bucket List,” Dr. Mila Thomas Fuller tasted Nothing Bundt Cakes when visiting family in Louisiana and decided she’d have to add a new item to that list. Born in Chicago and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, opening a bakery in the area was a natural choice. With a doctorate in instructional technology from Towson University, she returned to Illinois where she became interim director of online learning at her alma mater. She dreamed of membership in the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) – as the immediate past president, bucket list item checked. She always wanted to teach at Johns Hopkins – as adjunct professor, another dream realized. Past president of the local Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation - check. Current president and vice president respectively of the local chapters of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. - check. Having a wonderful husband and child (“AKA Taste Tester”) – check. And, now, she is pursuing her love of baking and celebrating community. Fuller is excited to create local jobs and to create a legacy for her family through this generosity-driven business. The bakery will celebrate their opening with a day to benefit Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation in addition to a socially-responsible ribbon cutting (see details below).
