Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (as of 2009, officially changed from Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month) recognizes the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. The theme for AAPI Heritage Month 2021 is Advancing Leaders Through Purpose-Driven Service .

For yearlong learning about the valuable contributions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, the National Archives holds a wealth of material documenting the Asian and Pacific Islander experience, and it highlights these resources online, in programs, and through traditional and social media.
