Mobile Health Clinic Launched In Champaign
Carle Hospital Foundation has a new way to treat patients with non-emergencies.

CHAMPAIGN, IL — There's a new way for community members to get treated if they're under the weather, especially those who have difficulty getting around. Carle Foundation Hospital has launched its first mobile health clinic, WAND reported. The 40-foot mobile unit is for patients that have non-medical emergencies, including acute illnesses, immunizations, basic wellness and more, according to the news report.
Supporting patients by getting to know their needs is another reason for the Mobile Health Clinic, especially those in underserved communities. WAND reported Carle Foundation Hospital hopes to bring more mobile clinics to serve the community.
"We want to talk about their medical issue, we want to talk about their home environment, we want to talk about their need," said Mobile Health Clinic Director Lynn Ullestad, to WAND. "Do they have a food issue? Do they have a social service issue? We'll bring a social worker with us and that social worker will be able to help them navigate what social service agencies are available."
