New Laptops For Champaign High School Students

District officials say Champaign high school students will get new Chromebooks for the upcoming school year.

CHAMPAIGN, IL — Unit 4 School District high school students will each walk into the new school year with a Chromebook. News-Gazette says that in a letter, the school district announced that all high school students will receive the laptop, carrying case and charger for free, in addition to keeping the their new technology pieces after graduating.

News-Gazette reported the school district said tech-support personnel have been added to each high school and there will be limited access to charging stations.

The district said Chromebooks will have the same content-filtering system at school and at home. If a student doesn't have internet access at home, News-Gazette reported the district said it plans to work with students to find other places accessible places or options.

The news report adds if a student loses their Chromebook, the district said it plans to charge $80 to $230 per laptop replacement, but the cost will depend on the laptop's age.
