CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — If you saw the South Suburban Humane Society's Facebook post last week, maybe your eyes popped out like mine did: 192 cats and kittens need homes.

That's a lotta cats.

And because it's, well, Facebook, I checked it out with CEO Emily Klehm, who confirmed the facts were true.

"Yes, our Facebook post last week regarding our kitten and cat population was accurate," she told me. "We have been absolutely inundated with feline intake the past month and it shows no signs of slowing down. "

Read that again: It shows no signs of slowing down.

Yikes.

The greatest need, Klehm said, is foster homes.

Fostering is free, but you have to apply to be a host. The Humane Society takes care of all of the animal's needs for you. You provide the lovin' the cats and kittens need.

If you're interested in adoption or fostering, you can find information on the shelter's website.
