Bloom 206 Returns to in-Classroom Learning

Optional in-classroom learning began this month for Bloom and Bloom Trail high school students.

Bloom Township High School District 206 schools are currently making the return to in-classroom learning, with new protocols in place, including onsite COVID testing.

In February, the district announced to families that its schools would shift to a 25-percent capacity in-person learning approach. This return, which began this week with freshmen students, is optional. Families who wish to continue e-learning have the option available to them.

"We recognize the importance of in-person learning for the holistic educational experience of many students in our district, and we have worked to create a safe environment," said Superintendent Lenell Navarre. "Beyond social distancing and mask protocols, which are being strictly enforced, we have redesigned the physical spaces to serve the needs of our students. We are also providing onsite testing for symptomatic individuals."

Planning for the reopening of the buildings began over the summer and has continued through the fall and winter of the current school year. The teams at all District 206 schools have worked closely with the district administration to develop a transition plan that takes everyone’s safety and the education of the students into account.

Among the changes that have been made are the installation of hand-sanitizing stations throughout the buildings, water-bottle filling stations to replace drinking fountains, designated one-way stairwells and hallways, and a redesign of all instructional spaces to ensure that teachers and students can stay safely 6’ away from one another.
