Chicago Heights Man Shot To Death On Normal Avenue
Chicago Heights police are investigating the shooting death of Donta Scruggs as a homicide.
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A man shot multiple times in a home in Chicago Heights over the weekend later died. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the death of Donta M. Scruggs, 23, of the 400 block of Normal Avenue in Chicago Heights at 7:53 p.m. on Feb. 29.
The Medical Examiner's Office said Scruggs died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide at a home on the block of his residence. He died at John H. Stroger Hospital after he was airlifted there from Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, where he was initially taken in critical condition according to Chicago Heights police.
Police said the shooting "does not appear to be a random act." No arrests had been made as of midnight Tuesday.
