Chicago Heights Mayor Warns Of Imposters Entering Homes
The Chicago Heights Police Department said scammers are posing as delivery or utility workers to gain entry into residences within the city.
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — The Chicago Heights Police Department is investigating a recent reported scam by individuals posing as electric company employees to gain entrance to a residence, according to Mayor David Gonzalez.
The Chicago Heights Police Chief, Tom Rogers, want to remind residents to be on the lookout for imposters, posing as electric, gas, public utility employees or delivery persons to get inside a home, according to a community service announcement from the city.
The city said common schemes involve imposters investigating utility issues or a delivery person delivering unexpected food or unexpected packages to gain entry and steal belongings.

The mayor urges residents to be aware of these acts. "If you are unsure whether an individual is an authorized employee, or if you observe any suspicious activity in your neighborhood, please call the Chicago Heights Police Department immediately," Gonzalez said.
