CHSD170 Appoints Dr. Maricela Clark as Assistant Superintendent

At its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, May 3, the Board of Education of Chicago Heights School District 170 approved the appointment of Dr. Maricela Clark as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, effective July 1, 2021.

In her new position, Maricela will assume the role currently held by Mary Kay Entsminger, who is retiring on June 30.

“I am honored and excited to have been selected to assume the position of Assistant Superintendent,” Clark said.

“I believe that schools should provide all students with a learning environment that instills values and prepares students for life success and strongly believes in educating the whole child.”

“The school/home relationship is vitally important in ensuring the success of the educational dynamic and must be nurtured as an essential, impactful, and powerful relationship that contributes to student success,” she concluded.

A veteran of 22-years in the district, Dr. Clark has fulfilled such diverse roles as a substitute teacher, teacher, Reading Specialist, Literacy Coach, Assistant Principal at Washington-McKinley School, Principal of the Griffin Early Childhood Center, Director of Bilingual Studies, and as Principal of Garfield School for the past eight years. She also has served on various curricular committees and district-led instructional initiatives.

“School District 170 has allowed me to grow professionally under the dynamic leadership of current and former district office personnel. I have been fortunate and blessed to work with Superintendent Tom Amadio and Assistant Superintendents Entsminger, Laretta Adams, and Jill Raymond. Each of them embraces their responsibilities as dedicated servants to the community of Chicago Heights, and I hope to continue the tradition of excellence that they have provided for our service community.”

Dr. Clark earned her degree of Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from The University of St. Francis, and Master of Education in Administration, and Master of Education as Reading Specialist degrees from Governors State University.

“Based on her myriad talents and vast and diverse experience, I know that Maricela will be an invaluable asset in continuing the tremendous educational opportunities and outstanding learning environment in our district,” Superintendent Amadio said.

En su reunión programada regularmente el lunes 3 de mayo, la Junta de Educación del Distrito Escolar 170 de Chicago Heights aprobó el nombramiento de la Dra. Maricela Clark como Superintendente Asistente de Currículo e Instrucción, a partir del 1 de julio de 2021.

En su nuevo cargo, Maricela asumirá el cargo que actualmente ocupa Mary Kay Entsminger, quien se jubila el 30 de junio.

“Me siento honrado y emocionado de haber sido seleccionado para asumir el puesto de Asistente del Superintendente”, dijo Clark.

"Creo que las escuelas deben proporcionar a todos los estudiantes un entorno de aprendizaje que inculque valores y prepare a los estudiantes para el éxito en la vida y cree firmemente en la educación integral del niño".

“La relación entre la escuela y el hogar es de vital importancia para asegurar el éxito de la dinámica educativa y debe nutrirse como una relación esencial, impactante y poderosa que contribuya al éxito de los estudiantes”, concluyó.

Un veterano de 22 años en el distrito, el Dr. Clark ha cumplido roles tan diversos como maestro sustituto, maestro, especialista en lectura, entrenador de alfabetización, subdirector en la escuela Washington-McKinley, director del Griffin Early Childhood Center, director Estudios y como directora de la escuela Garfield durante los últimos ocho años. También se ha desempeñado en varios comités curriculares e iniciativas de instrucción dirigidas por el distrito.

“El Distrito Escolar 170 me ha permitido crecer profesionalmente bajo el liderazgo dinámico del personal actual y anterior de la oficina del distrito. He tenido la suerte y la bendición de trabajar con el superintendente Tom Amadio y los superintendentes adjuntos Entsminger, Laretta Adams y Jill Raymond. Cada uno de ellos asume sus responsabilidades como servidores dedicados a la comunidad de Chicago Heights, y espero continuar la tradición de excelencia que han brindado a nuestra comunidad de servicios ”.

La Dra. Clark obtuvo su título de Doctora en Educación en Liderazgo Educativo de la Universidad de St. Francis, y su Maestría en Educación en Administración y su Maestría en Educación como Especialista en Lectura de Governors State University.

“Basándome en sus innumerables talentos y su vasta y diversa experiencia, sé que Maricela será un activo invaluable para continuar con las tremendas oportunidades educativas y el excelente entorno de aprendizaje en nuestro distrito”, dijo el superintendente Amadio.
