8 Bloom Trail Students Medal at Special Olympics Event
Bloom Trail Special Olympic team members Jillian Angell, Jermaine Butler, Daniel Cornejo, Tiera Curtis, Richard Fonville, Luis Garcia, Curtis Rutledge and Brandon Whitson all earned medals at a Special Olympics event Saturday, May 4.

Several Bloom Trail High School athletes got to show off their skills recently at the Special Olympics Track and Field and Softball Throw event held at Thornton High School on Saturday, May 4. Of the eight Bloom Trail athletes, three won gold medal in their events.
Bloom Trail students who competed in the events can be found below, along with their finishing places.
- Jillian Angell won gold in the softball throw and a silver medal in 50-meter run.
- Jermaine Butler Gold in the 50-meter run and a silver medal in the softball throw.
- Daniel Cornejo got a 4th place finish in the 50-meter runand a 4th place in the softball throw.
- Tiera Curtis got a silver medal in the 50-meter run and a 4th place ribbon in the softball throw.
- Richard Fonville got a 4th in the 50-meter run and a bronze medal in the softball throw.
- Luis Garcia go a 6th place ribbon in the 50 meter and a bronze medal in the softball throw.
- Curtis Rutledge got a Gold medal in the softball throw and 5th place in the 50-meter run.
- Brandon Whitson got a 5th place ribbon in the 50-meter run and a bronze medal in the softball throw.
Gold medalists Jillian Angle, in the softball throw, Jermaine Butler, in the 50-meter run and Curtis Rutledge, in the softball throw, will go on to compete at Illinois State University in the State Competition in June.
