Thanks to a suggestion from reader Pete Petrouski, we decided to take a look at some homes south of 14th Street.

Many of the houses in this area are listed at less that $100,000 and offer a lot of space. Some are even multi-family homes, which would allow a buyer to rent out space or move friends or family in.
