Hi-Way Bakery Among Chicago's Best Spots For Donuts

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A South Chicago Heights bakery has been recognized as one of the top places for donuts in Chicagoland by the popular Chicago’s Best TV crew. Hi-Way Bakery, located at 2633 Chicago Road, came in at No. 4 on the list of “Top 10 Donuts in Chicagoland.” Another south suburban spot, Doughs Guys Bakery in Palos Heights, came in at No. 2.

“The best donuts always come from the old-school shops,” Chicago’s Best wrote about Hi-Way Bakery. “If you’re early to rise in the south burbs, head to a classic and snag some warm cake donuts with a smile!”

According to its website, Hi-Way Bakery has “been making fresh donuts, pastries, and cakes 7 days a week” ever since it opened in 1939.

“Every morning, John Koester, with the help of his employees make hundreds of fresh baked goods that are ready for his customers when the doors open at 4:30 a.m. Using much of the original equipment, high quality ingredients and his secret recipes the bakery produces the best donuts you will ever have.”

The bakery is open from 4:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
