Abandoned Baby: Newborn Girl Left in Field Hours After Birth

Chicago Heights Police are searching for the mother, who might need medical attention.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — Police are searching for the mother of an hours-old infant girl who was left in a field in Chicago Heights Tuesday morning—possibly just hours after it was born.

The Chicago Heights Police Department were called just before 11 a.m. for a report of an infant found lying in a grassy field, near 19460 Chicago Heights-Glenwood Road, ABC7 reports.

The baby—who was conscious—was taken to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. She is listed as in stable condition.
