Man Missing For Over A Month: 'Our Family Is A Mess'

Over a month has gone by, and 36-year-old Garnie Dell Rice is still missing. His family said they don't know where to search.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — The family of Garnie Dell Rice, a man missing from Somonauk, Illinois, is hurt that they have yet to find Rice over a month after he disappeared.

The LaSalle County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Wednesday they are still looking for the 36-year-old, who was last seen heading toward Chicago Heights for work.

"Our family is a mess... he has two children. They are not aware yet of what is going on. We were hoping to have answers soon," Spring Rice, Garnie's sister, said. "He is finally listed as endangered. He has heart problems and is without his medication."

Rice was last seen meeting with two men in Ottawa, with plans to work in Chicago Heights for C&J Sealcoating, on Sunday Aug. 30. Rice has not been seen or heard from since then, according to police.

Spring said her entire family misses Rice and is asking anyone who has information to come forward.

"He has the biggest heart and would do anything to help his family or friends when in need," Spring said. "His sister, mom, dad and kids really miss him. We all deserve answers. I am asking and begging anyone to come forward if you have any information."

As previously reported by Patch, Rice is a white man who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He has short receding brown hair, hazel eyes and a goatee. He also has a large tattoo on his upper left side chest that reads "Arianna" and "Brooklyn," in black ink, according to his family.

Anyone with information should contact the LaSalle County Sheriff's Office at 815-433-2161. According to Spring, a $7,000 reward is being offered for information on his location.
